Basement Recordings Takes on Computer
Literacy By Storm
On May 2nd an audience of some 100+ educators, students, computer enthusiasts, and retirees came to Epiphany Lutheran School's FREE Windows 95/98 workshop, hosted by Basement Recordings. The workshop included a presentation of the new Microsoft Windows 98 that will be released in June. In addition, Basement Recordings instructors, Lutricia Doyle and Ernest Graham teamed up to introduce new multimedia software and hardware to the attendees. Featured products were from Iomega, Quantum, ForeFront, Afga, Mirmar Systems and Microsoft. The audience was extraordinarily receptive to the information, explaining that they had a much greater appreciation of the ways in which computer technology can serve business, educational and home entertainment interest. An often overlooked and seldom spoken about by-product of the music recordings industry is its impact and ability to inspire inner city youth to learn about advanced digital recording and computer technology. The result is the new acquisition of very marketable job skills and the ability to take advantage of the new job opportunities. This workshop was a part of a series of presentations from Basement Recordings. The presentations are designed to increase computer literacy by providing access to new and evolving technologies.
