The Pan Assembly recordings spotlight the artistry of ace pannists playing
contemporary and other familiar compositions at the time of each
recording. In all of the recordings a varied range of instruments, the
human voice, and the synthesizer accompany the pan. We Kind A Music
encapsulates all of the assorted combinations of these accompanists
playing across the Pan Assembly catalog. That feature and the selections
on this CD make We Kind A Music a distinctive Pan Assembly recording.
Several of the tracks come from among the Who is Who of Calypso and Pan
composers: Fire - Crazy (and Ector); Dus' In Deh Face - Goddard and
Rudder; Musical Volcano - Greenidge; Dance Hall Soca - Preacher, Kenny
Phillips and Byron Lee; My Band - Holman; and Pan Dingolay - Kitchener.
Some of these compositions have become pan classics in their own right and
an all time calypso favorite is Tan Tan. It is superbly rendered by Robbie
Greenidge on pan and Frankie Francis in an inimitable saxophone solo.
We kind ah music yes, composed by we and played by we. Our happy music.
